Frequently Asked Questions
01 Does a home baker or small-scale food seller need FSSAI?
Yes — even home-based food businesses require at minimum a Basic FSSAI Registration. Many online marketplaces (Amazon, Flipkart) require FSSAI registration before listing food products.
02 What is a food safety management system (FSMS) and is it required?
FSMS is a documented system for managing food safety hazards — including HACCP principles. It is mandatory for Central licence holders. State licence holders are recommended to implement it. We assist in preparing the basic FSMS documentation required for licence compliance.
03Can I sell food products across India with a State FSSAI Licence?
A State licence is state-specific — it covers operations within that state. For multi-state operations, manufacturing for export, or businesses with turnover above Rs. 20 crore, a Central FSSAI Licence is required.
